Kusum Vilas Palace, Chhota Udepur
Kusum Vilas Palace is a historic royal palace located in Chhota Udepur, Gujarat, about 100 km from Vadodara. Built during the 1920s by the royal family of the former Chhota Udepur State, the palace is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, blending Indian and European design elements.
The palace spreads across approximately 40 acres of landscaped grounds and features a grand central dome, elegant arcaded façades, spacious courtyards, marble fountains, and beautifully crafted Italian statues. Its interiors showcase antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, royal drawing rooms, and decorative artwork that reflect the luxurious lifestyle of the erstwhile rulers.
Kusum Vilas Palace was commissioned by the Chhota Udepur royal family as a residence for the Maharawals and their families. After India's independence, the palace was preserved and later converted into a heritage property, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur of Gujarat's royal heritage.
Today, the palace attracts tourists, history enthusiasts, photographers, and filmmakers. Visitors can admire its architecture, explore the palace grounds, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Chhota Udepur's hills and lakes. The palace also serves as a venue for weddings, cultural events, and heritage stays.
