Wanakbori Dam 2022
Wanakbori Dam is a gravity dam located on the Mahi River in Gujarat, India. The dam was built in 1976 by the Gujarat Electricity Board to generate hydroelectricity and supply water for irrigation in the surrounding areas.
The dam is 62 meters high and has a storage capacity of 9.43 billion cubic meters of water. It has two power stations with a combined capacity of 1,450 MW, making it one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in India. The power generated by the dam is used to meet the electricity demands of several cities and towns in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat.
The reservoir created by the dam is also used for fishing, boating, and other recreational activities. Additionally, the dam has helped in controlling floods and providing water for agriculture in the region.
