1. Adalaj Step Well

 Location:Gujarat,Gandhinagar,Adalaj

 Situated 19 km north of Ahmedabad, Adalaj is one of the finest of the Gujarat step wells or baolis. Built by Queen Rudabai in 1499, it provided a cool and secluded retreat during the hot summer months.

           Adalaj Step Well is a result of dedicated efforts of Queen Rudabai, widow of slain king Rana Veer Singh. The structure was completed in different phases under the supervision of the Muslim ruler Mohammed Begda, who took over the task after the queen promised to marry him. But, she later immolated herself after jumping into the well.
